Science at Heart-pury!

Class 4 have been learning about the human body and as a ‘special treat’ had an interesting science lesson linked to the circulatory system. In small groups, armed with a scalpel and chopping board, the children dissected lamb and pig hearts. There were the initial squeals of ‘Gross!’ and ‘Urgh’ alongside the odd ‘Cool’ and ‘Awesome!’. However, they all quickly became engrossed in the activity and were soon identifying ventricles, atriums, the aorta, the pulmonary vein and valves. The children loved poking their fingers inside the arteries and actually feeling the real thing.
