Racing to School with Tweenhills

Recently, Class 4 were lucky enough to benefit from an exciting day at Tweenhills Farm and Stud thanks to the charity Racing to School. We learn so much from Ollie and Rob, the Racing to Schools representatives, who taught us all about horse breeding and the many careers available in the racing industry, from groom to jockey, equine veterinary surgeon to trainer.

At the stud we were welcomed by owner Mr Redvers, introduced to their beautiful stallions and shown around the extensive facilities, including the foaling unit. A fascinating highlight for many of the children was watching vet John doing a scan on a mare to check her foal. To round off the day, we even had a chance to feel what it is like to be a jockey riding the mechanical horse!

Thank you to Mr Redvers, all the friendly staff at Tweenhills and Ollie and Rob from Racing to School for an incredible day that will stay in all our memories for a very long time and may well inspire some of the children into the equine industry.
