Welcome to Class Four

Class 4 is an amazing class because it combines hard work with extensive, fun learning. We prepare for our SATs tests, for secondary school and for the future. Our teacher Miss Marks is very kind and always gives her best in what we do, and Mrs Philcox is our fabulous helper. All the adults are always there to help us when we get stuck and make sure we know how to progress in our learning.

Class 4 is a unique learning experience. In the morning we study maths, English and reading and in the afternoons we enjoy PE, music, RE, French and our topic work. We study a new topic every term, from Ancient Greece to Waste Warriors, from the Victorian Empire to Coast! Art, DT and other subjects are often linked into our topic work. Our lessons are fun and interesting and we are challenged to do our best and learn to be independent learners.

We go on trips several times a year, for example to the SS Great Britain to learn about Brunel, and the local tip where we learn about waste and recycling. A highlight for us is the residential outdoor activities week; we challenge ourselves to climbing, kayaking, a muddy assault course and many other adventurous activities. Of course, we have plenty of fun together too, learning to work as a team and building strong bonds as a class.

As the oldest pupils in the school, we are trusted to be more independent and take on responsibilities to help the school run smoothly. We especially enjoy organising clubs for the younger children at lunchtimes and in year 6 we each have a very special buddy from Reception class who we help to settle into school life and look after. We often end up friends for life!

Class 4 is an exciting place to be!
