At Hartpury C of E Primary School, we aim to develop children who are motivated and equipped to be courageous advocates for our world, throughout their lives. We seek to develop each child’s understanding, respect, appreciation and responsibility for the world around us, so they can make a difference both now and in the future. The Global Sustainable Development Goals are central to our ethos and our Christian Values underpin all aspects of our community as we strive for the children to develop a broad understanding and enjoyment of the world that enables them to be outward looking, resilient and effective citizens of the future.
We choose Shine from the inside out, as our vision because:
We want our Christian ethos to shine from the inside out and demonstrate the love of Jesus in our world through our Christian values, especially those of Generosity, Forgiveness, Service, Respect, Compassion, Justice and Friendship.
We want all members of our community to shine from the inside out so they make a positive difference in our world today and in the future.
We want every child to shine from the inside out so they can achieve their full potential both now and in the future.
We want all members of our school community to shine from the inside out because they are enjoying good mental health and well-being and feel valued members of the community.
Our Vision is anchored in the example of Jesus:
12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Children will be encouraged to learn about Jesus and how he shone from the inside out using the following Bible stories:
Mark 1: 40-45
Jesus heals the leper – Jesus was willing to be with and help outcasts.
Jesus meets Zacchaeus – no one is beyond the love of Jesus.
Jesus feeds the 5000 – God provides for us all if we are willing to share.
The parables of the lost sheep, the lost son and the lost coin – we are each precious and valued
As a Church of England primary School, Christian values are at the heart of all we do. Over a two year rolling programme, we consider twelve different values, one each half term. These values become the major theme of our collective worship and are taught and reinforced throughout the curriculum and every day life of the school.
