Mindblowing Maths!

P1020054During a maths session in Class 4 the children (and Head teacher) came across a problem they just could not solve. Mr Larner set the challenge that the first person to solve the problem would gain a merit and each day the problem remained unsolved the reward would go up by one merit. Well days and even weeks went past. Eventually, once the puzzle had reached 20 merits and a long Easter break had elapsed, Maryam and Zainab solved the problem – but not without some extensive workings out!

Why not have a go yourself:

Try to make 24 using any calculation and all these numbers just once: 13, 9, 16 and 20.
